Walking Gains Greater Popularity Among Americans

The proportion of Americans who reported walking for at least 10 minutes in a given week rose 6.3 percentage points over a recent five-year period, from 55.7% to 62%, according to a Centers for Disease Control study reported in The New York Times. Nevertheless, under half of the adult population gets enough physical activity for substantial health benefits. Government guidelines call for workplace managers to increase employees’ opportunities for walking.
